The door check grabs the door as it nears the closed position. The built in damper then stops slamming and the rim is drawn shut firmly but quietly by the in-built spring. This is much quieter than the latching action of most overhead closers that slam the door the last few inches of its movement. This noise reduction makes the dictator ideal for use within Hotels, Hospitals and Dormitories.
