These mortice knobs have been manufactured and hand finished in the UK. Bronze is an alloy consisting primarily of copper, usually with tin as the main additive. It is hard and tough, and it was so significant in antiquity that the Bronze Age was named after the metal.
Real Bronze is offered in two finishes: RB Bronze Antiqued and PG Polished.
The antiqued bronze finish, traditionally known as real bronze metal antiqued (RBMA) reveals a dark iridescent patina. This unique finish is produced by rapidly oxidizing the surface after highly polishing. With constant handling, the oxide film will slowly wear down to reveal the beauty of the polished bronze beneath. Surfaces that are not handled, or only handled occasionally, will continue to oxidize.
In the highly polished form PGUL the finish will either maintain its brilliance through handling, or age gracefully as the bronze oxidises. Polished bronze, sometimes called polished gunmetal can also be supplied with a clear lacquer PG to protect the finish.
Rusti Bronze RG is a rough finish achieved on cast bronze to look like fittings from a bygone age
Real bronze products are made to order, please allow approximately three weeks for delivery.
Not all door furniture is available in real bronze so some brass fittings are available with an imitation bronze finish (IBMA). Thus we are able to supply brass hinges, flush bolts and locks in a bronze finish to complete the specification. Please contact our sales team for more information.
