Portman Catch-N-Close Unit with Soft Close Damper

Say goodbye to slamming doors. The Portman Catch-N-Close unit gently catches the door in the final few centimetres of travel and pulls it smoothly into the fully closed position — reducing stress on the door frame, protecting against finger traps, and eliminating the noise and impact of a slamming door.

How it works

The unit is fixed to the door frame head, with the catch fitted to the door. As the door approaches the closed position, the unit engages and gently draws it shut. The mechanism resets automatically when the door is next opened — no manual adjustment required.

Important installation requirements

• FD30 fire-rated systems: A minimum door width of 798 mm is required. This is a mandatory specification and cannot be reduced.
• Non-fire-rated systems (P7001): Door widths can be as narrow as 720 mm, however hanging brackets must be positioned 25 mm from the edges of the door to provide sufficient clearance.
• The above door width and bracket positioning requirements apply to both soft close and soft open/soft close configurations.
• This product is not compatible with architrave-free systems. If an architrave-free system with soft close is required, please purchase the Portman FD30 fire-rated system instead.
