Charles Street

SDS London is proud to present one of our latest completed projects done by our specification team, Charles Street.

SDS London worked with MSMR Architects and fit-out specialist Davies Shaw to supply a fully coordinated ironmongery package for the high-end residences at 6 Charles Street, Mayfair.

The project demanded exceptional attention to detail, combining high performance with understated elegance. SDS supplied a complete ironmongery schedule for apartment entrance doors, internal doors, pocket doors in a consistent Antique Brass finish. In addition matching items were supplied in black finish to match the interior glazed partitioning. Each item balanced visual quality with durability and compliance, including concealed cam-action closers, Banham high-security locks, centre door knobs, numerals, and bearing hinges.

The result is a hardware package that achieves both technical precision and design coherence across this landmark residential development.

The ironmongery was specified for performance, compliance, and aesthetic harmony. Apartment entrance doors featured fire-rated concealed bearing hinges, Banham locks for high-security, and concealed cam-action closers providing code compliant self-closing with the lowest opening forces.

Pocket doors across bathrooms and dressing areas included flush pulls, bathroom turns, and door-edge pull handles with push-button release—all coordinated in the same Antique Brass finish.

Glazed internal doors used the identical lever handle design in black finish to align visually with the glazing framework. Each element was chosen for durability, certification, and seamless integration within the joinery and interior design.

Achieving visual consistency across a large bespoke residential scheme required close co-ordination between multiple manufacturers and finishes. SDS London sourced a comprehensive range of hardware in matching Antique Brass to align precisely with the brass inlays within the doors and floor detailing. The warm tonal balance provided continuity throughout the interiors, ensuring every visible fitting contributed to a unified aesthetic. Even functional components—such as closers, locks and hinges—were selected for their minimal visual impact and refined detailing.

This disciplined approach produced a coherent and luxurious finish, reinforcing the craftsmanship and architectural intent of the development while maintaining the understated elegance demanded in high-end Mayfair residences.

SDS London prioritised long-life performance and responsible sourcing throughout the specification. All principal components are manufactured from brass and stainless steel—robust, recyclable materials offering durability and extended service life. Hardware was sourced from suppliers operating under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, ensuring environmentally responsible manufacturing and material traceability.

Minimal plastic packaging, bulk shipment to reduce transport impact, and SDS’s central London distribution hub further limited carbon footprint. By specifying high-quality, repairable components with documented life-cycle performance, the installation minimises waste and supports a building intended for generations of occupancy.
